Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to take on the role of Lead Nurse for the Bed Management and Discharge Lounge teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest or background in bed management and patient flow, demonstrating a dynamic and motivated approach to their work.

This position requires flexibility in adapting to a constantly evolving environment, along with the confidence and approachability necessary to lead and manage a nursing team effectively. We seek a passionate leader who is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while fostering the ongoing development and well-being of the team.

The successful applicant will have prior experience at Band 6 or Band 7 level, with exceptional communication skills being a fundamental requirement. The candidate must showcase the ability to initiate and sustain innovative practices that enhance nursing standards.

In this role, you will oversee daily operational nursing matters, necessitating strong leadership and management skills to guide the team efficiently. You will be expected to demonstrate supportive capabilities and nurture the workforce effectively.

You will play a crucial role in shaping future services, collaborating closely with the Matron and Lead Nurse within the directorate.

Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting patient flow throughout the organization and ensuring timely discharge plans are executed.
  • Providing guidance and advice to the multidisciplinary team while ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Managing staff, including overseeing rotas, conducting appraisals, and participating in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Controlling resources and managing budgets for the designated area.
  • Holding overall responsibility for the Ward/Department/Unit on a 24-hour basis, which requires advanced communication skills to address a wide range of daily management issues.
