Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to become a vital member of our exceptional Occupational Therapy Team. This role is situated within a supportive environment that fosters a sense of community. We are open to considering candidates for a Band 5 to 6 development position for those who may require additional clinical and supervisory experience.

The successful candidate will integrate into the general medical team, primarily focusing on our Care of the Elderly and Dementia Care wards, while also being adaptable to support other medical wards as necessary.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized occupational therapy interventions utilizing evidence-based, adaptable, and patient-centered approaches within a multidisciplinary team to address the health and social care needs of referred individuals.
  • Fulfill a specialized occupational therapy role for patients with complex health and social care requirements.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to junior occupational therapy staff in collaboration with the team leader.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.
  • Offer guidance and training for students during their practice placements.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Clinical experience relevant to the specialty or demonstrable equivalent.
  • Proven track record as an Occupational Therapist.
  • HCPC Registration.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the OT role and relevant standardized assessments and interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on complex topics in various situations.
  • Capability to analyze complex assessment outcomes and propose solutions.
  • Proficiency in organizing and responding to intricate information.
  • Experience in assessing and prescribing environmental adaptations and equipment.

People Management:

  • Experience in multidisciplinary collaboration and partnership working.
  • Supervisory and mentoring experience.
