Position Overview

The role involves collaborating closely with the Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) team, contributing effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist Speech and Language Therapists in delivering a comprehensive SaLT service aimed at enhancing communication and language skills for all students.
  • Take charge of planning both group and individual sessions as directed by the qualified SaLT professionals.
  • Provide input and innovative ideas for the ongoing enhancement of the SaLT service, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Engage in functional and purposeful therapies that demonstrate meaningful benefits, integrated into the students' daily college experience.
  • Share collective responsibility for the safeguarding of all students, adhering to established policies and procedures.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with the SaLT team to propose treatment plans and programs.
  • Implement therapeutic activities independently, without direct supervision.
  • Monitor student progress and identify when to consult with Speech and Language Therapists regarding necessary adjustments.
  • Encourage an active approach to communication and language development among students and staff, requiring empathy and strong interpersonal skills.
