Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the management and operations of state parks, ensuring that both visitor experiences and the preservation of natural and cultural resources are prioritized.

Division Mission

The Division of Virginia State Parks is dedicated to conserving the Commonwealth's natural, scenic, historic, and cultural resources while providing educational and recreational opportunities. This mission is fulfilled through the management of a vast network of parks that cover over 75,000 acres, featuring numerous facilities and amenities.

Park Overview

Hayfields, a newly acquired property, is poised to become a state park, featuring a blend of open fields and wooded areas along the Bullpasture River. This location is rich in history, with structures dating back to the 1800s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage park personnel, operations, and budgets to ensure high-quality services and programs for visitors.
  • Foster community relations and collaborate with various governmental and civic organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while promoting the agency's mission.

Qualifications

  • Proven skills in effective communication and leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of business management principles, including budgeting and revenue generation.
  • Ability to coordinate seasonal work programs efficiently.
  • Experience in maintenance and safety protocols for facilities and grounds.
  • Understanding of conservation practices and public engagement in a park setting.
