As a Museum Visitor Coordinator, you will possess a strong enthusiasm for history and a deep appreciation for museum collections, enabling you to provide exceptional customer service.

About You
In this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • The ability to engage with a diverse audience, whether individually or in groups.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in maintaining direct interactions with customers through service delivery and promotional activities.
  • Knowledge of best practices in visitor services.

About the Role
Your main duty will be to create a welcoming, safe, and accessible atmosphere for our varied visitors, ensuring they have an enjoyable experience while learning about the site and its collections.
You will actively contribute to bringing the venue to life through its narratives, necessitating a passion for public engagement. Responsibilities include ensuring the venue and collections are secure, clean, and presentable at all times. A flexible approach is essential.
Additionally, the role encompasses retail duties and support for events and educational visits. Experience in retail, hospitality, or educational settings would be advantageous.

Job Purpose:
To provide a secure, easily accessible, and friendly environment for all users, ensuring they enjoy their visit while learning about the site and its collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To engage politely and courteously with all users, providing information about the service's sites, collections, and activities, interpreting and demonstrating exhibits as necessary.
  • To carry out proactive reception and sales duties, including cash handling.
  • To ensure security procedures for the site, collections, and retail area are followed according to established guidelines.
  • To assist in the provision of learning activities such as family workshops, school visits, and guided tours.
  • To maintain cleanliness and safety of the site, participating in exhibition installations and display maintenance as directed.
  • To support the preparation and execution of conferences, functions, and events, including evening work.
  • To report any changes in environmental conditions of public areas to appropriate staff.
  • To participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
  • To uphold a high standard of personal appearance and dress.
  • To promote a positive image of the service at all times and assist in the promotion of the organization through various activities and events.
  • To adhere to health and safety policies, ensuring personal safety and that of colleagues and customers.
  • To promote and apply the principles of equal opportunities both with colleagues and the public.
