About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavorful menus, while ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and implementation
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality food production
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes, cooked to the highest standards
  • Create a warm, efficient, and fun environment in the kitchen, promoting a positive and productive team culture
  • Manage stock control, complete regular audits, and work within budget to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Assist in leading and motivating a team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in helping lead and inspire a team, with a good understanding of nutrition and HACCP
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food, with the ability to create a warm and welcoming environment
