About the Role

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications and Marketing Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering our communication and marketing strategies to amplify our mission to keep the people of Kent and Medway safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communication and marketing plans to enhance our brand visibility and reputation.
  • Lead a dynamic team of communications and marketing professionals, fostering creativity and professional growth in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive innovative campaigns that amplify our fire and rescue service mission and values across our diverse county.
  • Crisis communications and reputation management, ensuring accurate and timely information reaches our customers, colleagues, and partners.
  • Enhance brand presence across all platforms, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
  • Engage with customers, building and maintaining strong relationships with local and regional news media, authorities, and community groups to strengthen our public profile.
  • Lead and influence in content marketing, content creation for digital and traditional media, driving public awareness of fire and other safety initiatives.
  • Ensure research and evaluation is undertaken to ensure external and internal communications and marketing activity is effective and responsive to audience needs.
  • Work with the Internal Engagement Manager to deliver a strategic internal engagement programme to help deliver change management and other major internal issues.
  • Be part of KFRS' out of hours on-call press officer rota and provide additional emergency out of hours cover to assist with significant or major incident statutory communications.

Requirements

  • Degree-level academic or equivalent in Communications and/or Marketing.
  • Extensive experience at a senior level in communications and marketing.
  • Ability to think quickly and creatively to drive through fresh and innovative approaches to campaigns, content creation, and solutions to drive through communications and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to lead on behaviour change approaches to content and campaigns using the key models to support desired safer living behaviours.
  • Ability to build, sustain and share solid and collaborative professional relationships with relevant groups inside and outside the organisation and across the public, private and social sectors.
  • Ability to take complex information and create clear, creative content and stories relevant to specific audiences both internally and externally, both for online and print.
