Role of the Board Member

As a Board Member, you will share equal responsibility and accountability within Golding Homes. Your unique skills, insights, and experiences will be vital in guiding the Board towards making informed decisions that benefit both current and future residents, as well as the broader community.

We encourage applications from residents (including tenants, shared owners, or leaseholders) and non-residents who are eager to contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional services. While prior Board experience is not mandatory, candidates must demonstrate relevant skills or a willingness to develop them with our assistance.

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess:

  • Extensive experience in executive roles related to development and regeneration.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance pertaining to development and regeneration.
  • Familiarity with the housing development, regeneration, and sales processes, as well as housing market dynamics.
  • Awareness of key risks and opportunities in development and regeneration for registered providers, along with an understanding of adequate risk assurance.
  • Expertise in investment appraisal methodologies that inform development and regeneration strategies.
  • Senior-level experience collaborating with local government entities or boards focused on economic development and strategic planning, showcasing a proven track record in partnership initiatives.
  • A commitment to prioritizing the interests of current and future residents and customers.
  • Experience in sustainability efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving zero carbon emissions.
  • A comprehensive understanding of commercial matters, complemented by strong business acumen.
  • High numeracy skills combined with financial literacy, enabling the analysis of performance and financial data.
  • An interest in or understanding of affordable and social housing, including relevant legislation.
  • Significant experience in strategic leadership or executive roles.

Time Commitment

Board meetings occur 4-5 times annually, supplemented by quarterly committee meetings and two overnight retreats each year. Meetings typically take place in the late afternoon and last for 2-3 hours. We equip Board members with the necessary tools to access meeting materials electronically and facilitate participation via video conferencing.

We are committed to accommodating any additional needs to ensure effective participation. Adequate preparation time for meetings is essential for meaningful engagement.
