Healthcare Specialist for Looked After Children

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse specializing in the care of Children and Young People who are in care, with a strong commitment to enhancing their health and wellbeing.
The responsibilities of the Specialist Nurse include:
- Ensuring that all necessary activities are undertaken to fulfill the organization's obligations towards Children and Young People in Care.
- Collaborating with Social Care, Carers, and other health professionals to provide comprehensive services for Children and Young People in Care.
- Conducting thorough health assessments for Children and Young People in Care.
- Working closely with children, their carers, and various professionals to optimize the health outcomes for those Looked After by local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct statutory health assessments as a Specialist Nurse. Review and ensure the quality of health assessments performed by other health professionals. Offer specialized guidance to Children and Young People in Care, empowering them to make informed health choices and acting as their advocate when necessary. Facilitate access to essential health services, including general practitioners and dental care. Collaborate with Social Care to implement recommendations derived from health assessments. Provide support, supervision, and appraisal for team members. Identify training needs and deliver training for foster carers and staff in health, education, and social services regarding the health of Children and Young People in Care. Offer expert advice to health professionals, carers, and agencies concerning the health requirements of Children and Young People in Care. Raise awareness of the specific needs of Children and Young People in Care and promote competence among professionals conducting health assessments. Liaise with Social Care departments and other health providers regarding health assessments and recommendations for out-of-authority placements.About Berkshire Healthcare
