Job Overview

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a part-time dental nurse to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will work 4 days a week, based at our Whitley clinic, and will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic workforce.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the provision of dental care for children with high levels of dental disease and children and adults with additional needs.
  • Provide care in the domiciliary setting.
  • Assist in the provision of care for patients under inhalation sedation.
  • Assist on general anesthetic sessions.

Requirements

  • GDC Registration.
  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare.
  • Have a car and driving license.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A team player.
  • Experience with dental software and general IT skills.
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours (given sufficient notice).

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council.

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional qualification.

Continuous Professional Development

  • Portfolio of evidence of CPD.

Previous Experience

  • To have worked as part of a dental team, general practice, hospital, other PDS/CDS providing chair-side duties.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of managing a dental clinic, including decontamination, health and safety, management of the clinic diary, and ordering consumables.
  • Other experiences relevant to CDS, such as working with the elderly, children, and patients with special needs.
  • Experience in working in secure establishments.
  • Experience in assisting clinicians when treating patients under sedation and/or general anaesthesia.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understand principles of confidentiality.
  • Organisational skills and initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with dental software.
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations.

Additional Requirements

  • Current UK driving license.
  • Use of car for travel between clinics.
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours (given sufficient notice).
