Position Overview

As a Risk Governance Advisor, you will join a dedicated team tasked with delivering comprehensive risk governance solutions within the Retail sector. Your responsibilities will encompass the formulation and execution of clear and impactful risk and process management reports. You should possess experience in engaging with stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and providing consultancy on all aspects of risk governance, facilitating the complete product lifecycle.

This role is situated within the Retail Risk division, which plays a crucial role in empowering our members to manage their finances effectively and simplifying everyday banking, saving, and borrowing activities. However, it is a position that collaborates across various business areas.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as the subject matter expert in Risk Governance for the division, providing consistent guidance, best practices, and the assessment and implementation of lessons learned. Your focus will be on the ongoing enhancement and refinement of our risk management committee and risk governance within Retail.

Your duties will include supporting the Retail Risk Director by providing a full secretariat service for the Retail Risk Committee and the Product & Service Approval Forum (PSAF), managing function-related issues, tracking and reporting, overseeing the governance of the Senior Manager & Certification regime for those with regulatory responsibilities, and offering expertise across various risk governance activities as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • In-depth knowledge of risk governance and practical experience in providing comprehensive secretariat services for senior governance meetings.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, at an advanced level.
  • A proven ability to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in all work outputs.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the capability to distill key discussion points across diverse topics.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify themes and present them insightfully in reports.
  • Solid understanding of committee and corporate governance.
  • Experience in Risk and/or Governance (or a closely related area) with a solid grasp of the Retail function.
  • Able to effectively network within and beyond the function.
  • Good understanding of the FCA's Senior Managers & Certification Regime and related regulatory obligations.
  • Experience in producing insightful reports.
