Job Title: Academic Governance Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance and Compliance Specialist to join our team at James Andrews Recruitment Solutions Ltd. As an Academic Governance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective governance and regulatory compliance of our clients in the social housing sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and Team Management: You will report to the Head of Governance and manage a team of three advisors, primarily supporting business as usual with a focus on membership appraisal and ensuring team coordination with respective committees.
  • Communication and Leadership: You will lead and manage communications within the team and more widely support the Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: You will keep up to date with good practice in Governance and Regulatory compliance, recommending and implementing changes for continual growth.
  • Performance Management: You will set clear expectations of all individuals, discussing performance regularly to motivate and live our culture and values.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: You will provide guidance and expertise on governance matters to the Board, Committees, Executive and Directors, as required, building strong relationships with these senior stakeholders.
  • Legislative Knowledge: You will demonstrate strong legislative knowledge with awareness of current changes as they relate to the Regulator of Social Housing, the Financial Services Authority, Companies House and the Charities Commission.

Requirements:

  • Experience: You will have recent experience in Social Housing and a proven track record of successfully managing Board and Committee administration.
  • Skills and Knowledge: You will possess strong managerial and teamwork skills, with expertise in Risk assessment and management, Compliance and due diligence, and Strong communication skills.

Working Arrangements:

  • Working Hours: You will work 35 hours per week, with flexible agile working Monday to Friday.
  • Evening Meetings: You may be required to attend evening meetings from 5:30-7:00pm.
  • Board Meetings: You will attend Board Meetings on-site.
