Permanent Childcare Lawyer

Are you a qualified lawyer with a passion for childcare law? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of children and families?

We are excited to be recruiting for a permanent Childcare Lawyer to join our team at the London Borough of Lewisham. As a Childcare Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in providing legal advice and representation to Social Services clients, handling a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for Senior Social Care Lawyers
  • Handle a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases, with the opportunity to undertake advocacy in the Central Family Court
  • Advise Social Services clients in person and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, and in particular prepare a wide variety of court documents, advise on social care law, and assist Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as and when required
  • Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work
  • Carry out legal research
