Job Title: Childcare Lawyer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join our Legal Team at the London Borough of Lewisham. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Childcare Law, preferably from a local authority setting, and will be able to handle a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for the Senior Social Care Lawyers
  • Handle a caseload of child protection cases, with the opportunity to undertake advocacy in the Central Family Court
  • Advise Social Services clients on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Prepare legal documentation and advise on social care law
  • Attend meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required
  • Carry out legal research

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years PQE (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)
  • Current practising certificate
  • Experience in Childcare Law, preferably from a local authority setting
