About the Childcare Lawyer Position

The London Borough of Lewisham is a fantastic place to work with a dynamic and friendly Legal Team. We are excited to be recruiting for a permanent Childcare Lawyer to join our supportive and sociable Legal Team.

Main Duties of the Childcare Lawyer
  • Handling a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases, with the opportunity to undertake advocacy in the Central Family Court
  • Advising Social Services clients in person and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Preparing all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, and in particular preparing a wide variety of court documents, advising on social care law, and assisting the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as and when required
  • Carrying out legal research
