About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Assistant to join our Global Programmes team at AXA XL. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the underwriting process for our global clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Submission/Renewal Phase
    • Timely requests to offshore teams for quote creation and name clearance activities
    • Timely and accurate binding (or declinature) of quotes
    • Use underwriting tools to support the underwriter in defining the structure of global programmes and provide advice on possibilities for coverage
    • Participate in client/broker meetings to illustrate account implementation capabilities and provide deal structuring advice
  • Implementation Phase
    • Timely and accurate processing of premiums
    • Proactive engagement with underwriting to ensure new and renewed accounts have an efficient and smooth account handover
    • Determine optimal reflection of programme structure in GENIUS, considering downstream and reporting impacts
    • Ensure timely and high-quality implementation by means of related system procedures and creation of instruction documents
    • Accountable for correct premium, commission, and tax bookings in processing systems
    • Keeps track of implementation progress and liaises with the global network to resolve queries
  • Maintenance Phase
    • Ensure timely and high-quality implementation of mid-term endorsements, issuance of certificates of insurance, and focus on premium collection monitoring
    • Act as an interface role between underwriting, middle office, and global network for mid-term endorsements
    • Foster positive relationships with internal/external counterparts to understand their needs
    • Deal with and address requests originating from clients/brokers immediately and refer to underwriting as required
  • General Support
    • Develop an internal network for facilitating the transfer of information and data between functions and departments
    • Develop expert-level knowledge of systems, processes, and keep abreast of new guidelines published
    • Ensure data quality accuracy ratios at the defined level/metrics
    • Support existing backlog clean-up exercises
    • Support project work to ensure that existing processes meet requirements
Requirements

We are looking for someone with proven experience of working on global insurance programmes, preferably within Property, Liability, Marine, or other Specialty lines. Significant knowledge of underwriting processes is required. Achieve processing goals and produce good-quality results when underwriting is under pressure. Advanced knowledge of premium allocation principles, cross-border tax calculation & processing specifics, as well as insurance accounting principles is necessary. Experience in administration/client service functions with strong negotiation & sales skills to use with external stakeholders is required. Advanced working techniques/self-organization skills and knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, are essential.
