Medical Administrative Assistant

Position Overview
We are seeking a Medical Administrative Assistant to become a vital part of our Secretarial Team within the Renal Department. This role involves providing essential support to Medical Secretaries and their Consultant Teams, with a commitment of 21 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and secretarial skills, along with audio-typing qualifications. A solid understanding of customer service principles is also essential, as you will be addressing inquiries from patients, Consultants, and General Practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include:
- Composing clinical and administrative correspondence
- Managing telephone inquiries and addressing patient concerns
- Providing coverage for Medical Secretaries during their absences
- Participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent organizational abilities, enabling them to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic office environment.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Word processing skills - OCR II (or equivalent RSA II)
- Typing skills - OCR II (or equivalent RSA II)
Desirable
- Qualification or relevant training in customer service
- ECDL
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 6 months of secretarial or administrative experience
- Proficiency in various IT applications, including Microsoft Office
- Experience in a customer-focused environment
Desirable
- Experience within the NHS

- Proficient audio typist capable of accurately transcribing complex audio recordings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle distressing situations with sensitivity
