Regulatory Relations Manager at Smart DCC

Location: London

Key Responsibilities:

The Regulatory Relations team is tasked with overseeing interactions with DCC's regulatory partners, including Ofgem, DESNZ, Ofcom, and DSIT, while contributing to the development of DCC's regulatory framework.

The main duties of this role include:


• Facilitating DCC's participation in governance groups related to the Smart Meter Implementation Programme, aiding in decision-making processes concerning planning, risk management, and change control.


• Assisting DCC Subject Matter Experts in engaging and persuading regulatory partners to support DCC's broader business objectives and growth targets.


• Cultivating a comprehensive understanding of DCC's regulatory partners and their representatives to effectively influence key areas.


• Organizing and strategizing key stakeholder engagement initiatives.


• Keeping DCC's senior leadership informed about critical stakeholder matters and ensuring that emerging trends are identified and communicated, including through briefings for significant senior meetings.

Daily Activities:

· Oversee engagements with government bodies and regulators, influencing regulatory decision-making in collaboration with internal stakeholders.


• Develop strong working relationships and coordinate with key internal stakeholders to ensure DCC's perspectives are presented clearly and convincingly.


• Establish methods for information sharing to enhance stakeholder intelligence within DCC and ensure consistent messaging.


• Conduct horizon scanning and collaborate with government, regulators, and clients to identify their priorities for system improvements and new policy implementations, providing briefings for the Board and Executive Committee on potential impacts for DCC.


• Identify, escalate, and report significant issues arising from DCC's interactions with regulators, including within the Strategy and Regulation function and to relevant senior management.

Candidate Profile:


• Degree-level education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.


• Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across organizations.


• Strong facilitation and organizational skills, with experience engaging a diverse range of internal and external representatives, including senior executives.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.


• Experience in supporting subject matter experts in communicating complex issues in a clear and concise manner.


• Familiarity with working in complex environments with multiple stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams.


• Experience in major government projects is desirable.
