This role is designed for a part-time commitment of 18.5 hours weekly, with a pro-rated salary reflecting the hours worked.

As part of Essex County Council's Adult Social Care initiative, this position aims to facilitate a shift towards a more proactive approach in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism. The focus is on prevention, early intervention, enablement, and safeguarding, empowering individuals and their families to lead healthier, more independent lives.

The Specialist Accommodation Lead will play a crucial role in enhancing access to suitable housing options. This includes providing expert advice and acting as a central liaison for both internal and external stakeholders in the West Essex region. The successful candidate will collaborate with various partners to identify individuals seeking independent accommodation, ensuring that local housing demands are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer comprehensive housing advice to operational teams, ensuring they are well-informed about available options for service users.
  • Maintain accurate records and analyze the demand for supported living accommodations to develop plans that address local needs.
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders to create and sustain a variety of high-quality accommodation solutions.
  • Assist operational and commissioning teams with insights and recommendations regarding housing supply and demand.
  • Contribute to the expansion of accommodation options to maximize the use of supported housing in Essex.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of housing strategies across the region.
  • Collaborate proactively with internal and external partners to navigate the necessary services and processes for accessing housing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development in housing-related qualifications.
  • Experience in housing and social care settings, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex social situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with partners and community agencies to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills to manage risks associated with interventions.
  • Experience in collaborative work with evidence of successful outcomes, alongside an understanding of relevant housing and social care policies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and welfare benefits.
  • Effective communication skills adaptable to various audiences.

Mobility Requirement: The role necessitates mobility across the operational area; therefore, a valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
