The Specialist Accommodation Lead will play a pivotal role in facilitating access to suitable housing options for adults. This involves providing expert advice, support, and serving as a central liaison for both internal and external stakeholders within the Essex region. Collaboration with various partners is crucial to identify individuals seeking independent accommodation, ensuring that local housing demands are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering housing advice and guidance to operational teams to ensure they are well-informed about available options for supporting service users with housing needs.
  • Maintaining accurate records and conducting thorough analyses of the demand for supported living in the area to develop plans that address local requirements.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and partners to create, implement, and sustain a diverse range of high-quality accommodation solutions.
  • Providing operational, commissioning, and commercial teams with insights and recommendations regarding housing supply, demand, and opportunities.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of accommodation supply to maximize the utilization of available supported housing in Essex.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of housing strategies both regionally and across Essex.
  • Engaging proactively with internal and external partners to navigate the services and processes necessary for accessing housing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ideally, a degree or equivalent experience, along with evidence of ongoing professional development in Housing qualifications, such as the CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice.
  • Experience in a housing and social care context, demonstrating the ability to navigate challenging social and familial situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect and engage with diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with partners, agencies, and the local community to achieve shared goals and provide support for vulnerable adults.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with interventions.
  • Experience in partnership and inter-agency collaboration, with a clear understanding of national and local policies related to housing and social care planning and service delivery.
  • Current knowledge of housing legislation, policy, and practice, including welfare benefits.
  • Effective communication skills adaptable to various audiences.

Mobility Requirement: The role necessitates mobility across the operational area; therefore, a valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
