Job Overview

This pivotal position within Digital, Data, and Technology Services (DDTS) is designed to support the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and the Senior Management Team (SMT). You will take charge of a team of Strategic Supplier Managers and act as a deputy for the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office when necessary. The primary focus will be on overseeing and managing the DDTS supplier contracts portfolio, ensuring compliance with government standards for Digital, Data, and Technology. This role requires collaboration with commercial teams and service owners to ensure proper governance and market practices are upheld. With the introduction of innovative technologies, this is an exceptional opportunity to help shape the services required from suppliers to align with our current and future IT Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

This role is integral to the Digital, Data, and Technology Services (DDTS) and involves supporting the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and SMT in managing our comprehensive contracts portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing the DDTS Sourcing Strategy, focusing on supplier segmentation, rationalization, resource management, and strategic supplier partnerships to enhance service delivery and foster co-innovation.
  • Acting as a key gatekeeper and supporting the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and Service Owners in managing complex supplier relationships, where understanding organizational dynamics and current priorities is crucial.
  • Developing and overseeing the DDTS contracts portfolio, including establishing an effective renewal schedule and engaging with key stakeholders to ensure timely contract renewals or replacements.
  • Providing timely reports on the DDTS contracts portfolio to senior management and the monthly DDTS Change Programme Board, ensuring that risks and issues are appropriately captured and escalated.
  • Maintaining the supplier performance measurement system and ensuring a standardized approach is adopted across the function.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant business-related field, complemented by post-qualification experience or substantial equivalent experience.
  • A specialist postgraduate qualification in management (e.g., MBA, Graduate Diploma) or significant work experience at a similar level.
  • A relevant Master’s level qualification in business or performance management, or equivalent demonstrable work experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).

Essential Experience

  • Extensive leadership and management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance trends, root cause analysis, and performance evaluation techniques.
  • Experience in supplier management activities.
  • Significant experience in politically sensitive environments.
  • Expertise in critical intelligence management and supplier analytics.
  • Experience in planning across short, medium, and long-term timeframes.
  • Strong customer relationship management experience.
  • Proven ability to prepare robust business cases and present reports at executive levels.
  • Experience in change, project, and contract management.
  • Understanding of relevant UK legislation, including Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
  • Experience in developing performance interventions in complex healthcare organizations.
  • Financial management and budget control experience.
