About the Role

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a highly skilled Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse to join our team in Prisoner Healthcare within HMP Shotts. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high standards of client/patient nursing care to patients with a range of mental disorders, substance misuse, learning disability, or co-morbidity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients, applying the Framework of the Nursing Process.
  • Work collaboratively with the caseload holder/charge nurse/team leader, senior charge nurse, or practitioner to ensure effective clinical supervision.
  • Appraise and clinically supervise students and clinical/healthcare support workers in the provision of care and treatment within a defined clinical service.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and carers to ensure person-centered care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans, ensuring they are tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
  • Excellent team working skills, with the ability to work using own initiative.
  • Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA license and access to a vehicle essential for community posts.
