Position Overview

The successful candidate will serve as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, collaborating closely with the Clinical Manager to provide a thorough Primary Care Service in conjunction with Mental Health and Addiction specialists. This role is situated within a multi-disciplinary team in a unique correctional facility environment.

As part of the primary healthcare nursing team, the individual will be instrumental in delivering high-quality healthcare services. The position requires accountability for executing skilled nursing interventions as necessary. A commitment to a patient-centered approach is essential to ensure care delivery is both safe and effective, aligning with quality assurance strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold a valid NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork capabilities while demonstrating the ability to work independently.
  • Possess effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage time efficiently to meet the demands of the role.

  • Provide respectful and dignified care to individuals in custody, even in challenging situations.
  • Complete mandatory training as required by the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a comprehensive professional portfolio.
  • Training in critical healthcare procedures such as anaphylaxis management and resuscitation.
  • Awareness of security protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation.
  • Familiarity with medication prescribing guidelines, including controlled substances.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in Primary Care, A&E, or substance misuse.
Contract Details

This is a permanent, full-time position, requiring a commitment of 37 hours per week.

Work Environment

The role will be based within a healthcare facility in a correctional setting, with specific working patterns to be determined by the hiring manager.
