Position Overview
The Medical Secretarial Service is seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to become a vital part of the Gynaecology Team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced secretary or administrator aiming to broaden their expertise within the medical field.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Medical Secretary Team in the Gynaecology Department to deliver comprehensive secretarial and administrative assistance to Consultant Surgeons and their associated medical and nursing personnel.
This position is both dynamic and fulfilling, situated in a fast-paced specialty that manages a significant patient volume. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating theatre schedules
- Documenting outpatient consultations
- Managing diaries
- Responding to patient inquiries
- Overseeing the results management system
- Performing various administrative and secretarial duties
The role is full-time, comprising 37 hours per week, with a planned reduction to 36 hours per week over the next two years, maintaining salary levels in accordance with NHS Scotland's reduced working week initiative.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will possess prior experience as a Medical Secretary or in a comparable position, demonstrating proficiency in appointment scheduling and diary management, alongside exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. Competence in touch typing and familiarity with audio typing is also essential.
