Position Overview
The Medical Secretarial Service is seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to join the Gynaecology Team. This role is perfect for individuals with prior experience in secretarial or administrative positions who are eager to enhance their expertise within the medical field.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Medical Secretary Team within the Gynaecology Department, providing essential administrative and secretarial support to Consultant Surgeons and their medical teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating theatre schedules
- Typing and managing outpatient clinic documentation
- Overseeing diary management
- Responding to patient inquiries
- Administering the results management system
- Performing various other administrative tasks
This is a full-time position, requiring 37 hours per week, with a planned reduction to 36 hours per week over the next two years, maintaining salary levels in accordance with NHS Scotland's policies.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will possess previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a comparable role, demonstrating skills in appointment scheduling and diary management. Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities are essential, along with proficiency in touch typing and audio typing.
