Position Overview

The Medical Secretarial Service is seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to join the Gynaecology Team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional eager to broaden their expertise within the medical sector.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Medical Secretary Team in the Gynaecology Department to deliver comprehensive secretarial and administrative assistance to Consultant Surgeons and their medical and nursing teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating theatre schedules
  • Typing for outpatient clinics
  • Managing diaries and appointments
  • Addressing patient inquiries
  • Overseeing the results management system
  • Performing various administrative and secretarial duties

This is a full-time position, requiring 37 hours per week, which will transition to 36 hours per week over the next two years, maintaining salary levels in accordance with NHS Scotland's reduced working week initiative.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will possess prior experience as a Medical Secretary or in a comparable administrative role, demonstrating proficiency in appointment scheduling and diary management. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to touch type and experience in audio typing.
