Position Overview
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Medical Secretary Team in the Gynaecology Department, providing essential administrative and secretarial support to Consultant Surgeons and their medical and nursing teams.
This position is both dynamic and fulfilling, situated in a fast-paced specialty with a substantial patient volume. Responsibilities will include managing theatre schedules, typing for outpatient clinics, overseeing diary management, addressing patient inquiries, and handling the awaiting results system, along with various other administrative tasks.
This is a full-time role, comprising 37 hours per week, which will transition to 36 hours per week over the next two years (with no reduction in pay) in alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative for a reduced working week.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals with prior experience as a Medical Secretary or in a comparable role, particularly in appointment scheduling and diary management. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in touch typing and experience with audio typing are also required.

The Medical Secretarial Service delivers vital secretarial and administrative support to medical, surgical, and clinical teams throughout the acute sector of NHS Grampian. Our team comprises Medical Secretaries, Audio Typists, Administrators, Filing Clerks, Receptionists, Trainers, PAs, and Management personnel.
