Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Lead Nurse to join our Infection, Prevention and Control (IP&C) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive team that values the contributions of each member to deliver our aims and objectives in line with the Trust vision.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and developing quality infection prevention and control services in their allocated site, providing leadership, support, and guidance to all trust staff, and ensuring a patient-focused service. This includes providing clinical and managerial leadership to the Infection Prevention and Control Senior Nursing Team, practicing at an advanced level of autonomy and clinical decision-making, and working as a highly specialized member of the IP&C Team to assist in containing and reducing the incidence of infection across the Trust.

Person Specification
  • Significant post-registration experience in infection prevention within an acute Trust
  • Clinical experience within acute healthcare and ability to relate that experience to support staff in practice
  • Experience of professional leadership, training, and facilitating staff and practice development in various settings
  • Implementation of HR policies and procedures, and development and use of governance frameworks and structures to minimize risk and improve patient safety
  • Working with different organizations to review complex infection issues/cases
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of publication or conference presentations
  • Advanced critical analysis skills, experience of policy development and effective implementation, and experience of leading change with measurable evaluated outcomes
Qualifications
  • Registered nurse, on live register, with significant experience at senior level of infection prevention in practice (minimum 3 years at band 8A)
  • Specialist qualification in infection prevention and control; minimum BSc level
  • Qualification/training in teaching and/or professional development
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development
