Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) professional to join our team as a Service Lead Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on patient safety and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and developing the quality IPC service across our sites, providing leadership, support, and guidance to staff, and ensuring a patient-focused service. Key duties include:

  • Providing clinical and managerial leadership to the IPC Senior Nursing Team
  • Developing and implementing IPC policies and procedures
  • Conducting risk assessments and surveillance to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement infection prevention strategies
  • Providing education and training to staff on IPC best practices
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant post-registration experience in IPC within an acute Trust
  • Clinical experience within acute healthcare and the ability to relate that experience to support staff in practice
  • Experience of professional leadership and training staff and practice development
  • Specialist qualification in IPC, minimum BSc level
  • Registration as a nurse on the live register
