Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Risk Management Lead to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) service, ensuring the smooth running of all operational elements and providing expert advice to staff, patients, and service users.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective IPC policies and strategies to prevent and control infections and infectious diseases.
  • Conduct site visits and audits to ensure that infection prevention and control measures are in place and effective.
  • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and use this information to inform decision-making and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff, patients, and service users on IPC matters, and lead the development of education and training programs to promote IPC best practices.
  • Work closely with Estates and Facilities, commissioners, and stakeholders to ensure that infection prevention and control is given due regard in all projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a risk register for IPC matters, and lead the development of policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of data generated from the surgical site infection surveillance scheme, and use this information to inform quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Level 1 registration with the NMC.
  • Recognized IPC post-graduate course/module in Infection Control.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Significant post-registration/graduate experience in a relevant area of clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of current IPC guidelines, communicable diseases policies, and procedures.
  • Leadership experience at Band 7.
  • Knowledge of current developments in nursing and the NHS.
  • Experience of quality/service improvement/change management.
  • Experience as a Band 7 IPC Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in building a business case.
  • Experience of participating in clinical research.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
