Job Title: Retail Operations Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Operations Manager to oversee the performance and operations of our retail store. The successful candidate will require previous experience in a retail environment and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the store, driving sales, maximizing profitability, and ensuring operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the store, including staffing, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and maximize profitability.
  • Ensure operational excellence by maintaining high standards of customer service, product knowledge, and store appearance.
  • Manage and motivate a team of retail staff, providing coaching and training to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring that stock is accurately recorded and that stock levels are maintained at optimal levels.
  • Manage the EPOS system, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and that stock levels are up-to-date.
  • Ensure that all customer complaints are properly addressed and that all reasonable steps are taken to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Manage the stock control process, including receiving orders into the shop, booking stock into EPOS, and implementing price changes.
  • Ensure that all dated stock is checked and rotated correctly, and that MediCare merchandising standards are achieved.
  • Implement monthly promotions and ensure that all staff are aware and understand the offers and are aware of opportunities to link sell.
  • Ensure that all point of sale is correctly positioned and current, including shelf talkers.
  • Ensure that all Head Office emails relating to the shop front are printed and read, understood, and acted upon by all relevant staff.
  • Be aware of local competitor pricing and activity and report it to the Retail Area Manager and directly to the relevant head office personnel (Buyers).
  • Ensure the product knowledge and customer service training of all retail staff is of the highest standard.
  • Participate in the provision of extended hours service, if required.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness exists throughout the branch.
  • Ensure the on-going motivation, welfare, and safety of all shop staff.

Personal Specification:

  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
  • Right to work in the UK (proof requested).
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a retail environment.
  • Supervisory/Management experience in a similar role.
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent customer service skills and be well presented.
  • Desirable Experience:
    • Experience selling (and an understanding of Premium Fragrance in a retail environment).
    • Staff training experience.
    • Demonstrable leadership skills.
    • Relevant training and qualification from a recognised professional body.
    • Health & Safety.
