Job Overview

The role involves overseeing the clinical and operational management of the Directorate, collaborating with General Managers and Matrons to ensure the achievement of clinical, business, and operational performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Performance Management

  • Provide strategic clinical insights and offer guidance to the Chief of Service, Chief Executive, Executive Directors, and Trust Board.
  • Plan and manage service delivery, contributing to strategic planning processes and aligning Directorate Service Plans with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and implement the clinical audit function within the Directorate, adhering to the overall clinical governance framework of the organization.
  • Efficiently manage resources to maintain financial stability within the Directorate.
  • Ensure patient access targets are met by optimizing service capacity and demand.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief, taking accountability for all medical annual leave and sickness within the Directorate, in accordance with Trust policies.

  • Training in Clinical Leadership and/or Medical Management.
  • Experience as a consultant appraiser.

  • Understanding of Clinical Risk Management principles.
  • Willingness to investigate complaints and adverse clinical incidents.
