Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Sleep Technician to become a vital part of the Sleep and Ventilation team. This team delivers diagnostic, treatment, and review services to a diverse patient population of 3,500 individuals who depend on ventilation and CPAP therapies.

This part-time role, encompassing 18.75 hours per week, will collaborate closely with the existing sleep technician, specialist nurses, and nurse consultant to assist patients experiencing sleep-related breathing disorders.

The service operates within the Respiratory Unit, providing support to patients both in clinical settings and their homes. The successful candidate will be tasked with the procurement, management, and distribution of necessary consumables, as well as responding to patient inquiries through the support system and managing the programming and downloading of diagnostic sleep devices. After completing the requisite training, the technician will also be expected to conduct sleep studies both remotely and in a nurse-led diagnostic clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supply consumables for sleep studies.
  • Respond to patient support inquiries effectively.
  • Program and download data from diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct remote and in-clinic sleep studies following training.

This role necessitates familiarity with various software applications, including email, word processing, PECOS, data entry, and patient management systems. Comprehensive training will be provided on sleep management software. Commitment to Quality

NHS Scotland is committed to reducing the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without altering pay. This change will also apply on a pro-rata basis for part-time staff. However, some service areas may require a temporary adjustment in working hours until the new schedules are fully implemented.
