About the Role

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and managing our safety systems, promoting a positive health and safety culture, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and Manage Safety Systems: Evolve our existing safety management system to cover the needs of our site, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Lead Safety Initiatives: Dominate lead on Safety Star Programme for site, providing specialist knowledge and support in Health & Safety to site personnel.
  • Training and Development: Develop and coordinate delivery of the Safety training programme, working with other sites to share best practices and implement the safety vision.
  • Process Safety Management: Develop a Process Safety Management System and promote a perfect Process Safety Performance culture on site.
  • Employee Management: Assist in developing systems which promote personal ownership of Safety, ensuring minimization of exposure to workplace hazards.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Compile Safety reports (weekly/monthly) and distribute to all employees, analyzing safety data to determine preventive measures.
  • Incident Investigation: Conduct incident/accident investigations as required, ensuring all safety spreadsheets are kept up to date.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with enforcement agencies and legal representatives in matters of Health & Safety compliance and litigation.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, with a thorough understanding of Safety Regulations.
  • Education: A Level/Higher education level or equivalent, with qualifications in Health and Safety studies (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with good interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Personal Qualities: A site fanatic personal safety employee, with good mediating and negotiating skills.
