Job Summary
Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective safety systems, promoting a positive health and safety culture, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Main Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve existing safety management systems to ensure they meet the needs of our site and comply with relevant regulations.
- Lead the Safety Star Programme, providing specialist knowledge and support to site personnel.
- Develop and coordinate the delivery of safety training programmes, ensuring employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely.
- Collaborate with other sites to share best practices, implement safety vision, and achieve company health and safety policies.
- Develop systems that promote personal ownership of safety, ensuring employees take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
- Develop a Process Safety Management System and promote a perfect Process Safety Performance culture on site.
- Manage High-Risk Employee Management and High-Risk Scenario training, ensuring employees are equipped to handle high-risk situations.
- Complete Hazard and Operability Studies on critical processes and new investments, identifying potential hazards and implementing controls.
- Own the Safety Steering Committee, providing clear direction and leadership to ensure effective safety management.
- Manage Change Owner for Personal and Process Safety, ensuring all changes are assessed and implemented safely.
- Minimize exposure to workplace hazards, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Implement Employee Focused Health and Safety Management, prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
- Strive for 100% compliance with hazard-specific safety expectations, ensuring a culture of safety excellence.
- Demonstrate an interdependent and accountable safety culture, encouraging employees to take ownership of safety.
- Encourage safe behaviors, recognizing and rewarding employees who demonstrate safe practices.
- Continuously improve personal and process safety, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Directly involve employees in safety activities, ensuring they understand the hazards associated with their tasks.
- Compile safety reports and distribute to employees, ensuring they are informed and engaged in safety efforts.
- Compile leading indicators and share with employees, providing visibility into safety performance.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure all safety spreadsheets are up-to-date, providing accurate and timely safety information.
- Analyze safety data to determine preventive measures, identifying areas for improvement.
- Audit permit-to-work systems during maintenance and process running, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Review risk assessments and Safety SOWs, advising on safety implications and recommendations.
- Liaise with enforcement agencies and legal representatives, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide an overview of health and safety at communication days, ensuring employees are informed and engaged.
