Health and Safety Manager

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Health and Safety Manager to join our team at our Inverness site. This role offers the opportunity to shape and promote a proactive health and safety environment, ensuring the highest standards across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Safety Management System, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Lead the Safety Star Programme, championing personal health and safety across the workforce and promoting a culture of safety excellence.
  • Provide specialist health and safety knowledge and support to all personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and expertise to perform their roles safely.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programmes, ensuring all employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate with our Europe and North America sites to share best practices and implement safety visions aligned with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement systems to encourage personal ownership of safety, ensuring both personal and process safety performance remains flawless.
  • Manage high-risk employee management, scenario training, and hazard/operability studies on critical processes, ensuring the highest levels of compliance and safe behaviours.
  • Lead the Safety Steering Committee, providing clear direction and leadership for safety sub-committees and ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement in personal and process safety, ensuring the highest levels of compliance and safe behaviours, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Regularly audit work areas, engaging directly with employees to understand and mitigate potential risks, and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Manage incident/accident investigations, ensuring safety reports are compiled, shared, and used to inform future prevention measures.
About You:
  • Proven experience in health and safety management, with a deep understanding of safety legislation and regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to promote an interdependent and accountable safety culture, and to motivate and engage employees in safety initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to assess safety data and drive continuous improvements, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for engaging and motivating teams, and for promoting a culture of safety excellence.
