Job Title: Health and Safety Technician

Pertemps Scotland is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Technician to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team to develop and implement effective health and safety strategies.
  • Assist area teams in creating and maintaining Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all roads maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and review Risk Assessments annually to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop and deliver Toolbox Talks for road maintenance activities to ensure employees are aware of potential hazards.
  • Maintain a Roads Health and Safety SharePoint document library to ensure easy access to safety documentation.
  • Manage a Roads HAVs database for equipment to track and monitor safety compliance.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date using the latest technology to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain a Health & Safety Induction for Roads Operatives to ensure they are aware of safety procedures.
  • Coordinate and deliver Toolbox Talks, ensuring attendance is recorded and employees are aware of safety protocols.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working in a construction environment with a strong understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with preparing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Toolbox Talks to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • A valid driving licence to enable travel to various locations.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and adapt to new situations.
  • Competence in using technical and statistical information to inform health and safety decisions.
  • Proficiency in IT with the ability to make the best use of ICT tools to maintain safety documentation.
  • A logical problem solver with a commitment to public service and a focus on achieving targets and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
