Hatfield, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom Alstom Full time

Req ID: 451970

Location: Hatfield

Appointment Basis: Permanent

Excellent Salary + Benefits Include: Pension, Life Assurance, Contributed Healthcare

At Alstom, we are committed to understanding transport networks and the dynamics of mobility. Our extensive portfolio includes high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, and comprehensive systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility solutions. With a workforce of 80,000, we are dedicated to fostering greener and smarter mobility across the globe, connecting cities while reducing carbon emissions and minimizing reliance on automobiles.

Alstom stands as the premier supplier of new trains, train services, and signalling infrastructure projects in the UK & Ireland. We have constructed nearly 40% of the UK's mainline train fleet and all fleets currently operational with London Underground and Dublin's LUAS.

We are spearheading the UK's largest train program in a generation – AVENTRA – for seven of the largest train operating companies, while also preparing to manufacture the next generation of Greater Dublin's commuter trains, DART+, along with 54 HS2 high-speed trains in collaboration with partners. Additionally, Alstom supports 66% of the UK fleet through its Services division and is recognized as the leading provider of CP6 signalling and infrastructure solutions.

With a workforce of 6,000 across the UK and Ireland, we design, manufacture, and test trains at the largest end-to-end train manufacturing facility in Derby, alongside major sites in Widnes, Crewe, Ilford, and Plymouth, as well as 30 train service depots throughout the UK and Ireland.

Your future role

The Lead Material Planner will oversee a portfolio of suppliers (both internal and external) to ensure timely delivery of goods in the correct quantities and locations, aligned with Alstom's requirements. This role involves articulating delivery needs to suppliers and contributing to the governance of supplier delivery performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing action plans for performance enhancement and participating in risk management. Collaborating with the Procurement team to ensure that contractual agreements are accurately reflected in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Communicating delivery requirements to suppliers using designated tools. Monitoring deliveries to guarantee the availability of materials for Alstom projects. Tracking supplier performance through KPIs. Leading initiatives for supplier performance improvement. Providing Supply Chain insights for supplier selection processes. Aligning material planning and ERP configurations with project Supply Chain objectives and targets. For internal suppliers: Managing Purchase Requisitions until the creation of Material Planning documents. For external suppliers: Coordinating with Procurement to ensure Purchase Requisition readiness for initiating Material Planning documents. Ensuring and updating the accuracy of material planning master data, in compliance with stock and logistics constraints. Creating Material Planning documents (Call-off, Schedule Agreement) and respective Source Lists. Communicating Material Planning documents to suppliers and securing their confirmations. Analyzing supplier confirmations against Alstom's requirements and assessing risks/impacts on production/projects. Identifying priorities related to risk/impact assessments and implementing recovery actions. Organizing and conducting regular reviews with suppliers to evaluate delivery status and performance. Analyzing and managing MRP exception messages to anticipate supply issues (backlogs, shortages, no demand, etc.). Tracking missing parts until they are available in stock. Ensuring replacement of non-conformities through the NCR process. Resolving Goods Receipt issues through effective communication (overstock, shortages, damages, documentation discrepancies, quantity mismatches, invoices, etc.). Analyzing and sharing delivery performance KPIs with various stakeholders (internal and external).

All about you

We prioritize passion and attitude over experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, we have outlined some that we believe will contribute to your success and growth in this role:

Familiarity with ERPs and Supply Chain principles. Experience in continuous improvement methodologies. Previous work experience in an engineering environment is highly advantageous. A degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience working with diverse stakeholders, including suppliers. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong problem-solving capabilities.

Direct your career in any direction you choose across various functions and countries. Benefit from our commitment to your development through award-winning training programs. Enjoy a fair and dynamic compensation package that recognizes your performance and potential, along with comprehensive social benefits (life, medical, pension).

You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We assure you that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll feel a sense of pride. If you are ready for the challenge, we would be eager to hear from you.

What we offer

We provide a competitive remuneration package, 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell holiday.
