Appointment Basis: Permanent

Excellent Salary + Benefits Include: Pension, Life Assurance, Contributed Healthcare

At Alstom, we are dedicated to enhancing transport networks and facilitating the movement of people. Our extensive portfolio encompasses high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, and comprehensive systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility solutions. With a workforce of 80,000, we are committed to advancing greener and smarter mobility worldwide, linking cities while reducing carbon emissions and minimizing reliance on cars.

Alstom stands as the premier supplier of new trains, train services, and signalling infrastructure projects in the UK & Ireland. We have contributed to nearly 40% of the UK's mainline train fleet and all fleets currently operational with London Underground and Dublin's LUAS.

We are spearheading the UK's largest train initiative in a generation – AVENTRA – for seven of the country's major train operating companies, while also preparing to manufacture the next generation of Greater Dublin's commuter trains, DART+, alongside 54 HS2 high-speed trains in a Joint Venture. Additionally, Alstom supports 66% of the UK fleet through its Services division and is recognized as the leading provider of CP6 signalling and infrastructure.

With a workforce of 6,000 across the UK and Ireland, we design, manufacture, and test trains at the largest end-to-end train manufacturing facility in Derby, operating significant sites in Widnes, Crewe, Ilford, and Plymouth, as well as 30 train service depots throughout the UK&I.

Your future role

The Senior Material Planner will oversee the portfolio of Suppliers (both Internal and External) to ensure timely, accurate, and location-specific delivery of goods in alignment with Alstom's requirements. This role involves articulating delivery expectations to suppliers and contributing to the governance of Supplier delivery performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing action plans for performance enhancement and contributing to risk management strategies. Collaborating with the Procurement team to ensure that contractual agreements are accurately reflected in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Communicating delivery requirements to Suppliers using designated tools. Monitoring deliveries to guarantee the availability of goods for Alstom projects. Tracking Supplier performance through established KPIs. Leading initiatives for Supplier performance enhancement. Providing Supply Chain insights for Supplier selection processes. Aligning material planning and ERP configurations with project Supply Chain objectives and targets. For Internal suppliers: Managing Purchase Requisition until the creation of Material Planning documents. For External suppliers: Coordinating with Procurement to ensure Purchase Requisition readiness for Material Planning documentation. Ensuring and updating the accuracy of material planning master data in compliance with stock and logistics constraints. Creating Material Planning documents (Call-off, Schedule Agreement) and respective Source Lists. Communicating Material Planning documents to Suppliers and confirming their acceptance. Analyzing Supplier confirmations against Alstom's requirements and assessing potential risks/impacts on production/projects. Identifying priorities linked to risk/impact assessments and implementing recovery actions. Organizing and conducting regular reviews with Suppliers to evaluate delivery status and performance. Analyzing and managing MRP exception messages while anticipating supply issues (backlogs, shortages, no demand, etc.). Tracking missing parts until they are available in stock. Ensuring replacement of non-conformities through the NCR process. Resolving Goods Receipts issues through effective communication (overstock, shortage, damage, documentation discrepancies, quantity mismatches, invoices, etc.). Analyzing and sharing delivery performance KPIs with various stakeholders (Internal & External).
