Team Leadership: 6 direct reports

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The primary objective of this role is to devise and execute procurement and inventory strategies that align with the overarching business goals across the UK and EU.

The Head of Procurement will hold responsibility for warehouse management, supervising all procurement and inventory operations, as well as the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the ERP system to ensure effective support for team operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the procurement, inventory management, storage, and distribution of products.
  • Serve as the liaison between the organization and its suppliers.
  • Develop and manage budgets related to procurement and inventory.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics.
  • Identify potential suppliers based on project specifications.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure a smooth flow of goods to optimize production.
  • Guarantee that the supply chain is resilient, cost-effective, and meets the organization's requirements.
  • Provide daily leadership to the procurement and inventory team.
  • Lead by example while enhancing internal capabilities.
  • Ensure ethical sourcing practices for all suppliers, both direct and indirect.
  • Develop processes, systems, and procedures for managing and optimizing the procurement and storage of goods.
  • Maintain and update inventory records to prevent shortages.
  • Implement best practices for warehouse efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Foster strong leadership and development within the Procurement team.
  • Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop team members to achieve their full potential in alignment with the company's core values.
  • Maintain the Mitrefinch software for tracking absences, sickness, etc.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, sales, and production, to align procurement and inventory activities with overall business objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in procurement and inventory management, particularly in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).

Educational Credentials:

  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS, MCIPS)

Essential Skills:

  • Significant experience in procurement, preferably within a manufacturing context.
  • Solid understanding of industry and market dynamics.
  • Strong grasp of procurement and negotiation methodologies.
  • Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Commercial acumen, with an awareness of business and customer needs, as well as the cost implications of decisions.
  • Confidence in making informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Strong management skills with demonstrable experience in team leadership.
  • Analytical mindset for interpreting and communicating data.
  • Highly developed written, verbal, and digital communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Commitment to customer service and quality standards.
  • Capability to quickly understand and resolve issues in line with priorities.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, both internally and externally.
