Part of the School of Advanced Study, the Institute's aim is to promote and facilitate high-quality research in philosophy, making it available to the widest possible audience both inside and outside academia, and to play a national advocacy role for the UK's philosophy community.
The Institute Manager plays a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of the Institute of Philosophy's strategic objectives.
The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Director to operationalize the Institute's diverse portfolio of activities designed to promote and advocate for the UK Philosophy community.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Academic events
- Research support
- Fellowships
- Public engagement
- Knowledge exchange
The postholder will be responsible for the Institute finances, reporting to the Institute Director and the SAS Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operationalize the Institute's strategic objectives
- Collaborate with the Director to promote and advocate for the UK Philosophy community
- Manage the Institute finances
Working Arrangements
The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office.
The postholder will be expected to work from the Institute offices for a minimum of 60% of their working week and may on some weeks be required to work in the office more than this amount.
The postholder will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings.
