Assistant / Property Surveyor

In our commitment to fostering the growth of our personnel, Lancashire County Council's Estates Team is excited to offer a remarkable Career Grade opportunity. We are seeking to fill a progression scale position that will assist an Assistant Property Surveyor in advancing to the role of Property Surveyor.

The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) or actively pursuing chartered status, possessing experience in delivering a commercially viable professional estates and valuation service in either an urban or rural environment.

Progression from grade 8 to grade 9 will occur upon meeting specific criteria, including obtaining chartered status (MRICS), which we will support you in achieving.

Our workforce is integral to our success, and we consistently provide exceptional services that positively influence the lives of individuals in Lancashire and beyond. If you believe you can contribute positively to this dynamic team, we would be eager to hear from you. We are dedicated to maintaining a work/life balance, ensuring a welcoming environment that empowers staff to achieve the best outcomes for all.

Lancashire is a region we take great pride in, and we value the role the county council plays within it. As the fourth largest local authority in the country and the largest in the North, we serve 1.2 million residents and deliver a diverse array of innovative, successful services that genuinely make a difference in people's lives.

You will have the chance to engage in a wide range of projects, working autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues as part of a broader team. The extensive services we offer will enable you to gain significant experience and broaden your expertise. We are committed to supporting and encouraging you to reach your full potential, ensuring a varied and manageable workload. For candidates who have not yet achieved MRICS status, we will provide assistance and support throughout their qualification journey to attain full RICS Membership. Our track record of successfully guiding individuals to MRICS qualification is exceptional.

This position requires the use of a vehicle for job-related duties, which must be insured for business purposes. However, accommodations will be considered for individuals unable to drive due to a disability.

The Estates Service at Lancashire County Council undertakes a diverse range of responsibilities, offering varied and engaging roles.

The Service is divided into three teams:

Management Team
• Overseeing all aspects of estate management for the County Council's extensive service portfolio (including business parks in Leyland and Lancaster)
Disposals & Acquisitions Team
• Managing the acquisition and sale of land and properties.
Transport Team
• Engaging in major transport initiatives, involving the acquisition or compulsory purchase of property interests.

The role may involve supporting projects such as acquisitions, disposals, compulsory purchase orders, assistance with significant capital and highway schemes, valuations, leases, rating work, as well as support at our commercial business parks.

Working for Lancashire County Council comes with numerous benefits, including training to support career advancement, membership in the Local Government Pension Scheme, programs such as cycle to work, childcare vouchers, and 26 days of annual leave (increasing to 32 days after 5 years).

For further information regarding the role or to have an informal discussion, please reach out to the Estates Manager.

In return, Lancashire County Council provides a variety of benefits, which can be found on the LCC Vacancies website.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy early if we receive a sufficient number of applications.
