Assistant / Estates Surveyor

As part of our commitment to staff development, Lancashire County Council's Estates Team is excited to announce a fantastic Career Grade opportunity. We are seeking to appoint a progression scale position that will support an Assistant Estates Surveyor in advancing to the role of Estates Surveyor.

The ideal candidate will either be a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) or actively pursuing chartered status, possessing experience in delivering a commercially viable professional estates and valuation service in urban or rural settings.

Progression from grade 8 to grade 9 will occur once specific criteria are met, including obtaining chartered status (MRICS), which we will assist you in achieving.

Our workforce is integral to our success, and we consistently provide exceptional services that positively impact the lives of residents in Lancashire and beyond. If you believe you can contribute positively to this dynamic team, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. We are dedicated to maintaining a work/life balance, fostering a supportive environment that enables staff to achieve the best outcomes for all.

Lancashire is a region we take pride in, and we value the role our county council plays within it. As the fourth largest local authority in the UK and the largest in the North, we serve 1.2 million residents and deliver a diverse range of innovative, successful services that truly make a difference in people's lives.

In this role, you will have the chance to engage with a broad portfolio of projects, working both independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team. The variety of services we offer will provide you with substantial experience and opportunities to expand your knowledge. We are committed to supporting and encouraging you to reach your full potential, ensuring a varied and manageable workload. For candidates who have not yet achieved MRICS status, we will provide assistance and support throughout your qualification journey to attain full RICS Membership. Our track record of helping individuals achieve MRICS qualification is exceptional.

This position requires the use of a vehicle for job-related duties, which must be insured for business purposes. However, we will consider applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability.

The Estates Service at Lancashire County Council offers a wide array of services and responsibilities, making the roles both varied and engaging.

The Service is divided into three teams:

Management Team
• Responsible for all aspects of estates management for the County Council's extensive service portfolio (including business parks).
Disposals & Acquisitions Team
• Engaged in the acquisition and sale of land and properties.
Transport Team
