Role Summary:

The Student Support and Wellbeing Lead plays a crucial role in delivering extensive assistance to students enrolled in various educational programs. This position entails overseeing the wellbeing team, orchestrating activities within the student support and wellbeing unit, managing administrative responsibilities, and addressing student inquiries. The ideal candidate should be driven by the desire to enhance students' academic journeys and overall wellbeing. Previous experience in a higher education environment or a similar context, coupled with a strong customer service orientation and effective interpersonal skills, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and enhance the Student Wellbeing and Counselling services.
  • Contribute to the formulation of comprehensive policies and procedures concerning the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students.
  • Oversee all external service providers related to student wellbeing.
  • Ensure students receive appropriate support for their inquiries and wellbeing concerns.
  • Manage complex and sensitive situations impacting individual students.
  • Act as the primary contact for students and staff regarding disability and mental health issues, providing necessary support to the teams.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of administrative tasks.
  • Analyze and identify wellbeing cases, providing reports to the Wellbeing Manager.
  • Conduct wellbeing meetings with students to discuss their challenges.
  • Maintain accurate student records and databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and student activities.
  • Perform any additional administrative duties as required by the management team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Training in various disability and/or mental health issues.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and training.

Experience & Skills:

Essential:

  • Understanding of Customer Service Standards.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and workloads while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and contribute to the broader activities of Student Support and the institution.
  • Empathy to understand and address students' concerns effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and trust with students.
  • Capability to assess situations and provide practical solutions.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and student needs.
  • Proficiency in utilizing IT technology for recording and searching student databases.

Desirable:

  • Experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques to offer emotional support.
