Role Summary:

The Student Support and Wellbeing Lead plays a pivotal role in delivering extensive assistance to students enrolled in various educational programs. This position entails overseeing the wellbeing team, orchestrating activities within the student support and wellbeing unit, managing administrative responsibilities, and addressing student inquiries. The successful candidate will be driven by the desire to enhance students' academic journeys and overall wellbeing. A background in a university or comparable environment, coupled with a strong customer-focused approach and effective interpersonal skills, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and enhance our Student Wellbeing and Counselling services.
  • Contribute to the formulation of comprehensive policies and procedures that ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students.
  • Oversee all external service providers associated with wellbeing.
  • Ensure students receive appropriate support for their inquiries and wellbeing concerns.
  • Manage complex and sensitive situations impacting individual students.
  • Act as the primary contact for students and staff regarding issues related to disability and mental health, providing necessary support to teams.
  • Collaborate with various departments to facilitate effective communication and coordination of administrative tasks.
  • Analyze and identify wellbeing cases, providing reports to the Wellbeing Manager.
  • Conduct wellbeing meetings with students to discuss their challenges.
  • Maintain precise student records and databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and student activities.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as required by the management team.

Education and Qualifications:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Training in various disability and/or mental health issues.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and training.

Experience & Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Understanding of Customer Service Standards.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and workloads while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and contribute to broader Student Support activities.
  • Empathy to understand and address students' concerns effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and trust with students.
  • Capacity to assess situations and provide practical solutions.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and student needs.
  • Proficiency in IT technology for recording and retrieving student data.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of counselling techniques to offer emotional support.
