Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to the medical team at Essex Lodge Surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.
  • Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, healthcare professionals, and other associated healthcare agencies.
Job Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and a clear, polite telephone manner.
  • Time management and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of EMIS Web Clinical System.
Person Specification
  • Good standard of general education and GCSE English C or above.
  • AMSPAR Receptionist certificate or NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience of working within General Practice and using EMIS.

Essex Lodge Surgery is a GP Practice established in 1975, providing services to approximately 17,500+ patients under a Personal Medical Services (PMS) Contract. The practice has been a GP training and teaching practice since 1985, offering training to physician associates, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
