Community Support Specialist

Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership Full time
Job Overview

The Bail Supervision program is a vital social work initiative designed to assist individuals who would typically be detained on remand. This program allows for their release on bail, contingent upon their engagement with a bail supervisor a designated number of times each week. The primary objective of these interactions is to support individuals in adhering to the stipulations of their bail.

It is important to note that the concept of 'bail supervision' is not defined by legislation; rather, it is a specific condition that can be imposed as part of the bail process.

This program plays a crucial role in reducing the number of individuals held in custody while awaiting trial or post-conviction reports, allowing for their release into the community, provided that public safety measures are in place.

By delivering tailored bail supervision services that cater to both individual and community needs, we can ensure that remand is utilized judiciously and appropriately.

The Social Care Worker (Bail Team) is tasked with preparing bail assessments for court proceedings and overseeing supervised bail orders.

Bail assessments may encompass a variety of elements, including information regarding bail addresses, evaluations for bail supervision, and assessments concerning the feasibility of electronic monitoring as part of a bail arrangement.

Managing bail supervision orders involves evaluating needs and risks, employing formal assessment tools such as the Justice Outcome Star, and developing care plans to address identified needs and risks.

This role requires direct one-on-one engagement with individuals, as well as collaboration with existing statutory and voluntary sector services.

Bail team members are also responsible for providing progress reports to the Courts regarding individual engagement and for submitting breach reports to law enforcement in cases of non-compliance with Bail Orders.

These positions are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order (as amended).

Membership in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme is a prerequisite for appointment. Please be aware that successful candidates will be required to cover the costs associated with their PVG Membership or Scheme Checks.
