Position Overview

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust is dedicated to delivering specialized community services for individuals affected by sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. In response to recent enhancements in Sickle Cell Community Services, we are expanding our team and are looking for a Pediatric Haemoglobinopathy Community Nurse. This role will focus on providing comprehensive nursing care to children and adults with haemoglobinopathy conditions.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the existing Specialist Children's Nurse to manage a diverse caseload of children diagnosed with haemoglobinopathy conditions.
  • Engage with families and provide clinical support throughout various stages of life, from prenatal screening to adulthood.
  • Develop and implement a new pathway for preconception counseling as part of our service enhancement.
  • Conduct home visits to newly diagnosed infants and ensure continuity of care for families.
  • Facilitate communication among healthcare professionals, including pediatricians and health visitors, to ensure comprehensive care for affected individuals.

Your primary office will be located at a designated medical center, and you will provide nursing support in patients' homes and other community settings.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A professional nursing qualification with NMC registration.
  • Experience in community nursing and a background in pediatric care.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
