Position Overview

This role entails the independent execution of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks that vary significantly based on assigned projects. The individual will be accountable for the inspection, upkeep, and repair of university facilities and equipment. Additionally, this position will provide assistance to various construction, trade, and maintenance teams to fulfill university requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on university properties.
  • Support trades, vendors, and technical personnel with construction, design, and operational maintenance as necessary.
  • Repair and maintain machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Perform regular and special facility inspections while ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
  • Receive, inspect, inventory, and distribute deliveries to the appropriate departments independently.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in performing semi-skilled maintenance duties.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and comply with university vehicle operation policies.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 and respond to emergencies within one hour.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in maintaining maintenance records and preparing related documentation.
  • Ability to estimate material needs and costs for maintenance and construction tasks.
  • Experience working with contractors and vendors.
  • Certifications or licenses in skilled trades.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance operations, energy conservation techniques, and relevant building codes.
  • Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and grounds maintenance.
  • Familiarity with safety codes and practices, including EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience supervising staff and training employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
  • Skill in evaluating maintenance needs of buildings and related facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of:
  • Bending, stooping, and working in awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Climbing and working from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Carrying, lifting, or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and walking continuously throughout the workday.
  • Working in various weather conditions.

Employment Information

This position is classified as non-exempt with a pay range starting at $23.09 per hour, commensurate with experience. A visa sponsorship is available for this position.
