Project Overview:

Mace is looking to appoint a skilled temporary works coordinator to be part of this expanding and successful segment of our operations. The project manager will be tasked with overseeing an upgrade program within a nuclear-licensed environment. Key responsibilities include planning, directing, managing, and supervising the execution of temporary works (in accordance with BS5975) to ensure that client objectives are met within the specified timeline, budget, and established health, safety, and quality standards. Effective communication with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager or Senior Manager.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all temporary works-related matters, collaborating with tier 1 contractors' temporary works teams, designers, and other project members.
  • Implement the temporary works procedures established by Babcock.
  • Establish and maintain a project temporary works register, ensuring it is updated based on records from trade contractors.
  • Prepare and distribute a design brief to the temporary works designer.
  • Maintain organized records of temporary works documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures, inspections, and checks.
  • Coordinate all temporary works activities, focusing on the interactions between work zones and trade contractors, and communicate any potential conflicts.
  • Review temporary works proposals from design teams and trade contractors with support from project engineers and package managers.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to identify and address temporary works and loading issues.
  • Ensure that loadings from temporary works affecting permanent works are approved by the permanent works designers.
  • Ensure that temporary works permits are approved and communicated to the site team.
  • Review and appoint Babcock Temporary Works Supervisors for large or complex projects as necessary.
  • Ensure that detailed procedures for controlling temporary works are developed and implemented by trade contractors.
  • Review the proposed appointments of trade contractors' Temporary Works Coordinators in line with Babcock procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in engineering or project management and membership in a relevant professional institute.
  • Experience with NEC contract administration.
  • Proven experience as a temporary works coordinator with a CITB qualification.
  • Proficient in digital tools, capable of fostering strong client relationships and leading motivated teams.
  • Experience in the defense and nuclear sectors.
  • Background in construction delivery, particularly in nuclear or defense projects.
  • Experience in a temporary works coordination role.
  • Site health and safety management experience.
  • Project or site management experience with a strong focus on temporary works.
